I am running for the position of Ward 3 Councillor in the Lanark Highlands municipal election because I care about the future of our community.
To me, community is about neighbours helping neighbours, listening to one another, and working together to make our township an even better place to live. I want to be a strong voice for residents, make practical, common-sense decisions, and help ensure Lanark Highlands remains a great place for families, seniors, local businesses, and future generations.
I believe my education, work experience, and years of community involvement have given me the practical skills and experience to represent the residents of Ward 3 with honesty, respect, and a commitment to listening.
Education
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Carleton University and also completed a diploma in Computer Programming.
More recently, I completed AZ and Heavy Equipment Operator training, as well as B licence training. I currently hold a BZ driver’s licence.
Work Experience
I am currently driving a school bus as I enjoy staying active during my semi-retirement.
Over the past few years, I have also worked at the Household Hazardous Waste site for two summers and served as a school crossing guard in Lanark for one year.
Before that, I spent nearly 25 years working as a software developer.
Community Involvement
Giving back to the community has always been important to me.
For more than 10 years, I volunteered as a Beaver, Cub, and Scout leader, and I also coached youth soccer during the summer.
I have volunteered with Plan B in Lanark, including teaching a practical workshop on simple solar power projects that people can build at home.
I am also a member of Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), a volunteer organization that can provide emergency communications support for police, fire, and other emergency services when requested by the County.
On election day, I would be honoured to earn your vote for Ward 3 Councillor.
